Claire Poundstone is a tireless advocate committed to achieving the best possible outcome for her clients. In her practice, she is passionate about giving her clients a voice while protecting their rights. Through personal experience, she knows how being injured through no fault of your own can be devastating and life-altering, and she understands how the assistance of a caring attorney is essential.
Claire brings a wealth of experience to her practices. Over the course of her career, she has practiced in the areas of personal injury, construction defect, mass torts, commercial litigation, and criminal defense. Claire started her legal career as a Deputy Colorado State Public Defender, where she gained extensive trial experience ardently representing hundreds of clients facing misdemeanor and felony charges.
Since passing the State Bar of Colorado in 2009, Claire has proven herself as capable and knowledgeable. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association and Planned Pethood International (a non-profit, international veterinary clinic). She is also a member of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, Women’s Trial Lawyer Network, and Rhone-Brackett Inn of Court.
Claire graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in Psychology and Sociology as a Boettcher Scholar. She received her J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law with several Scholastic Excellence Awards including: Evidence, Lawyering Process (writing), and Legal Profession (ethics.) During her time at DU, she received the Finalist and Orator Recognition Award at the 2008 Daniel S. Hoffman Trial Advocacy Competition and served as Staff Editor for the Water Law Review.
Claire Poundstone is the embodiment of balance. She’s an attentive mother and a career woman at the same time. On a weekend, she might be passionately cheering on her beloved Denver Broncos or she could whipping up a complexly flavored dish in the kitchen. She could be zinging fastballs while playing catch with her two incredible sons (although she’s the first to admit she’s probably a bit biased) or admiring a new addition to her impressive shoe collection. This ability to defy norms while simultaneously embracing them puts Claire in rare company and her clients in safe hands.
This adaptability extends into her lawyering style. She is a creative yet logical thinker and recognizes that life and the law can be both simple and complex simultaneously. This seemingly paradoxical skillset is key to her analytical style of problem solving. To Claire, this is not a paradox at all, as she understands the importance of being equal parts tough and compassionate. To co-opt a line from her favorite cartoon, The Simpsons: “Love is both the cause and solution to all life’s problems.” Yet somehow, in the words of Claire’s favorite band, The Beatles, “All you need is love.”
